The two new holes actually were roughed in 20 plus years ago. They were shaped and cleared but never opened. Over the years a lot of growth took over and 20 years of vegetation needed to be removed. In addition, the holes have been regraded to provide a more acceptable design. Here are some photos before & after of the first new hole and the construction process in a real BRIEF nutshell.
This first picture shows the tee area of the first new hole. As you can see it would have been pretty tight without some clearing of trees!
This photo shows a lot of weeds and overgrowth. The topsoil was stripped, cultivated, and the surface was regraded. Notice how crowned the fairway was.
Notice the crown has now been flattened to provide a much better landing area. Shortly after this was completed, irrigation was added along with drainage. Seed was planted and more trees to the left were removed to expose the pond. Some trees had to be removed behind the green to provide morning sunshine for the green as well as air movement.
Here you can see things finally coming together. With a few more tweaks and a little patience we'll be playing this hole soon!
